Stocks | Major media shares jump higher

On the heels of rosier forecasts at this week's UBS media conference, companies I follow closely saw their shares rise smartly in recent trading today:

• Gannett: up 9% to $13.04
• New York Times Co.: up 3.6% to $9.26
• News Corp.: up 2% to $14.87
