Report: NYT Co. launches new e-profit unit

(Updated at 6:46 p.m. with company statement.) Bloomberg News is now reporting that the New York Times Co. "will create a business unit to focus on generating profits from electronic editions, including versions of its newspapers for Amazon.com Inc.’s Kindle." The service cites an internal memo out today.

The story continues: "Times Co. said in the memo that it appointed Yasmin Namini, the senior vice president of marketing and circulation, as general manager of the unit, which joins four others as part of the Media Group: the newspaper, website, the International Herald Tribune and News Services."
